21st Century Community Learning Centers

SkillsThe 21st Century Life and Careers standards are designed to prepare our students for lifelong success as citizens and workers in a global society. In Preschool, social and emotional development is the focus for life skills and career exploration. In Elementary grades, students are introduced to 21st century life skills, career development and financial literacy. In Middle grades, students continue to develop in these areas and prepare for high school transition. In high school, students continue to develop and apply the skills they have learned in order to participate in structured learning experiences, specialized programs, advanced coursework, and college and career readiness.

Our 21st Century Life and Careers Standards are integrated across all content areas. In addition, the Plainfield Public school district has developed a comprehensive Guidance/School Counseling Curriculum aligned to the 21st Century Life and Careers Standards as well as the National ASCA (American School Counseling Association) Standards for grades K-12, Financial Literacy for grades 9-12, and several state-approved CTE courses.
